Love and Charity

Some people are just lucky enough to tumble into simple raffle games or lottery, on that matter, and win.

Winning Raffle Entry

Walking into Bru’s Room Sports Grill in Coral Springs recently, C.J. Jubenville wasn’t expecting to enter a raffle. But he did just that, and was the big winner of an autographed and framed Dwayne Wade 2006 Miami Heat championship jersey, courtesy of the Kids of Love, Inc. foundation. “It was exciting to win something,” Jubenville said. “More than anything, it was knowing where my donated money went.”

Charity Work

Due to his involvement with that contest, Jubenville is now an integral part of the local charity, Kids of Love, Inc. The organization was started by 11-year-old Randall Slapikas, of Coral Springs; and has grown through community involvement. “I was sitting in the car realizing how lucky I am to be healthy and I decided to help kids with cancer,” said Slapikas, who,  years earlier had participated in soccer and T-ball activities. “I kept thinking about kids in hospitals and how much they could use, need, and appreciate help.” Slapikas saw his father had some sports memorabilia and figured since the Heat were just in the playoffs it would attract even more attention to his cause. He was right. The organization raised $2,645 from that event alone.
